Wondering what happened to Judge Jeanine? This weekend marked her next chapter.

The next chapter in Judge Jeanine Pirro’s life began this weekend, as she officially joins President Donald Trump’s administration.

Did you notice that Judge Jeanine, one of Fox News’s most famous faces, had all but dropped out of the news following being drafted as a US Attorney by Trump? Well, there’s a reason for that.

Pirro has been working as an interim US Attorney for the District of Columbia since May, but was officially confirmed to the position on Saturday. She was approved by a Senate vote of 50-45, finally clearing a process that had plenty of hurdles.

“She had to be voted out of the Judiciary Committee twice,” The Daily Mail reported. “Democrats walked out of a committee hearing two weeks ago, claiming that Republicans improperly rushed the confirmation process. That walkout invalidated the initial committee vote.”

Pirro was the president’s second choice for the position, after podcast host Ed Martin fell victim to a smear campaign by leftists and failed to receive enough support to be voted in.

The president spoke about Pirro’s rise to fame and her fierce defense of truth and justice during her swearing-in in May.

“Over five decades, Jeanine Pirro, known by millions as Judge Jeanine, has devoted her life to the pursuit of justice, the defense of freedom and the fair, equal and impartial rule of law,” Trump said, lavishing praise on the judge. “And she went after real criminals, not fake criminals, like we seem to do today, nowadays.”

Her new position will allow her to oversee not just federal crimes, but also some of the most serious crimes committed in Washington, D.C., a jurisdiction that also includes the United States Congress and most government agency headquarters. This makes her role, in particular, one of the most influential positions in the US, and will include high-profile crimes such as “ones of national security and public corruption, as well as violent crimes and drug trafficking,” according to DM.

“Republicans, including Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, praised Trump’s selection for the role, while doing their best to fend off attacks on Pirro from their Democrat counterparts,” the outlet continued.

“‘You may hear my Democrat colleagues criticize Ms. Pirro for some of her colorful remarks during her time as a TV personality,’ Grassley, stated on the Senate floor ahead of Saturday’s vote, adding that ‘yes, she has a larger-than-life personality,’” the article added.

But the senator also noted that Pirro has a “decades-[long] distinguished record as a prosecutor and judge. D.C. is fortunate that the president nominated her to serve as its U.S. attorney. Her job in the interim role, where she is stationed now, has been heralded.”
