Building America’s Future (BAF), a political action committee (PAC) backed by billionaire Elon Musk, is dishing out over $1 million to promote the passage of the president’s “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” which Musk had prominently denounced, Politico reported Monday.
The group’s ad, titled “Independence,” will debut Monday on Fox News and will celebrate President Donald Trump signing his signature megabill into law on July 4, according to Politico. Musk has notably donated hefty sums of money to BAF in the past.
“This Independence Day, President Trump and Congress made the working family tax cuts law,” the ad will say, according to Politico. “Freeing Americans from taxes on their tips and overtime, doubling the child tax credit, and cutting taxes for seniors. Republicans know that our country is better off when working families keep more of what they earn. Now, they will.”
Musk had previously blasted Trump’s massive tax and immigration bill as “outrageous” and a “disgusting abomination.” In June, Musk also vowed to fund primary challengers against Republican lawmakers who voted in favor of the bill.
Additionally, Musk announced on July 5 that he was forming a new political party, called the “America Party,” following Trump’s signature spending bill being signed into law. Trump told reporters on July 6 he thinks that Musk’s proposition was “ridiculous,” adding that “starting a third party just adds to the confusion.”
“President Trump, [Senate Majority] Leader John Thune, and [House] Speaker Mike Johnson all showed tremendous strength and vision to get historic tax cuts for working families across the finish line this summer, and their remarkable achievement will put America on a path to prosperity for years to come,” Generra Peck, senior advisor to BAF, told Politico. “At Building America’s Future, we could not be more proud to stand with an administration and GOP Congress that is truly building a brighter future for America.”
