Former Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy raised some pointed questions on Fox News Thursday regarding former Vice President Kamala Harris and her forthcoming book.
Harris said Thursday that her upcoming book, “107 Days,” will offer a behind-the-scenes look at her brief presidential campaign. The book is scheduled for release Sept. 23. During an appearance on “The Ingraham Angle,” McCarthy said he has three questions he wants Harris to answer in the book.
“Will she be honest and say never did she have a poll where she was leading? Would she be honest and say that she knew she wasn’t going to win this entire time? Or what about how Joe Biden was as president that he mentally wasn’t there? ‘107 days,’ I’m just wondering, how much did some publisher pay for this book?” McCarthy asked.
McCarthy drew comparisons between Harris’ book and her previous media stunts, criticizing her for relying on what he called manufactured authenticity.

“Remember when she did this in the campaign, like dramatic, like she was going to answer the phone, it was Barack Obama endorsing her, then we found that was all staged? Or when she actually did the podcast, ‘Who’s Your Daddy,’ right? They built an entire stage. Or that she had all these stars come out. We found out she paid them. Even when she paid Beyonce or Oprah, they didn’t perform,” McCarthy added.
McCarthy then raised concerns over Harris’ authenticity, suggesting it is more about political positioning than personal reflection.
“There’s no authenticity behind her. You know, she talked about maybe running for governor, [but] then she got second thoughts because she knew she couldn’t win. I think this book is her idea to try to set the stage to be the Democrat nominee again,” McCarthy said. “This is the difference. She would have to go earn it, and she would never win the primary.”
Harris said Wednesday that she will not run for California governor but stopped short of ruling out a 2028 presidential bid.
