Staff from Harvard University’s recently closed Women’s Center, Foundation for Intercultural and Race Relations and Office of BGLTQ Student Life will fold into a new office amid the school’s supposed diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) purge.
The Ivy League university announced it will establish the “Harvard Foundation” within its new Office of Culture and Community, and approximately 50 current staff members of the diversity offices will be reshuffled to the new one, according to The Harvard Crimson.
Harvard previously renamed its Office of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging to Community and Campus Life in April after the Trump administration began targeting the school, accusing it of racial discrimination and antisemitism, among other things. The university is in an ongoing battle with the administration over its federal funding, stating it “will not surrender” its academic freedom and free speech rights amid negotiations.
Harvard did not respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
Just before the 2025 graduation, Harvard also announced it no longer supports affinity celebrations — separate events for people of certain racial or gender groups.
Many other universities have also folded to the Trump administration’s pressure, promising to close DEI offices amid fears of funding cuts and other retaliatory tactics.
The Trump administration has revoked more than $2 billion in federal grants from Harvard over its alleged noncompliance with federal civil rights law, leading to an ongoing legal battle. Harvard’s accreditation also remains in limbo, and the administration has made three separate attempts to cut the school off from hosting foreign students, citing Harvard’s alleged “toxic campus climate” relating to disruptive anti-Israel protests the school experienced.
