‘Who gives a d*mn?’ Chris Cuomo blasts Dems for obsessing over unmasking ICE agents

NewsNation host Chris Cuomo criticized Democrats on Monday for prioritizing stripping masks from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.

Despite a surge in attacks, Democratic Sens. Cory Booker of New Jersey and Alex Padilla of California introduced a bill July 8 that would prevent ICE agents and other federal immigration authorities from wearing face masks during most enforcement operations. Cuomo argued on “CUOMO” that Democrats should be focusing on immigration policy rather than masks.

“Democrats are pushing legislation that would require ICE agents to remove their masks when arresting illegal migrants — or I guess arresting anyone,” Cuomo said. “Why is that the focus? Why aren’t they fighting about the policies and about how the Fourth Amendment is being interpreted and the locations that are being used? Why play to the petty aspect?”

“I’ll tell you why. Because this is the BS that works on social media. The mask, let me tell you, there’s good reason and sus reason for them to wear masks,” he continued. “If you were getting doxed based on what you did at work, you might be a little bit more careful about your identity also.”

Cuomo also cited the Department of Homeland Security’s Monday press release on Democratic California Rep. Salud Carbajal allegedly doxing an employee of ICE.

“Rep. Carbajal doxed an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) employee, who was subsequently attacked by rioters and sent to the emergency room,” he read from the release.

“That’s messed up. Now you can say, ‘Well, I think what they’re doing is messed up.’ Fine, let’s have that fight. Let’s have that fight,” the NewsNation host said. “Let’s fight about what the policies should be. The Democrats should be involved in that, but who gives a damn about the mask?”

Moreover, the Department of Justice (DOJ) has arrested multiple suspects accused of orchestrating a July 4 armed attack on a Texas ICE facility and shooting a local police officer in the neck. Law enforcement officials also announced on July 7 that a gunman shot at Border Patrol agents at a Texas Border Patrol facility.

Border czar Tom Homan clashed with Politico’s Dasha Burns in a Sunday interview on “The Conversation with Dasha Burns,” where she cast doubt on the need for ICE agents to wear masks during enforcement operations. Homan cited the drastic increase in attacks as the reason he backs agents donning masks.

“I support ICE wearing masks. They’re still wearing insignia. They’ve got HSI, ERO, FBI, DEA, but there needs to be some level of protection because the attacks is unprecedented,” Homan said. “700% for God’s sake.”
