Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk said on Tuesday that President Donald Trump’s reconciliation with Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is “evidence” that he will eventually mend his relationship with Elon Musk.
Musk reignited his feud with Trump on Monday by backing Republican Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie, whom the president has pledged to defeat in the midterms. However, Kirk noted that Trump and DeSantis — once bitter rivals during the 2024 Republican presidential primary — demonstrated they were on good terms during a Tuesday visit to “Alligator Alcatraz.”

“It might seem as if this is irreconcilable between President Trump and Elon Musk. How could they possibly ever join forces? How could they ever come back together after all this back and forth? Elon Musk is starting a new political party, and they’re attacking, and it’s just as nasty as you could imagine,” Kirk said. “And it seems as if that’s only going to increase. But President Trump has in front of us a rather dramatic and telling track record of being able to reconcile and work with people that were otherwise considered to be sworn enemies of MAGA, where we were in the nastiest of the nastiest of all circumstances.”
“Elon Musk is a patriot. Do I think Elon Musk is misfiring on starting a new political party? Yes. That would do nothing but help the Democrats have permanent political control over the country. Let’s just be honest — it would turn the country into a third-world hellhole. There would be wide-open borders. That is a bad idea. Do I think Elon Musk wants what’s best for America? Yes, I really do. Him buying X and him buying Twitter will go down as one of the most consequential, important purchases.”
Musk posted on X Monday that if Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill” passes, he would create the “America Party” the following day.
“Look, in politics, sometimes it requires sharp elbows, requires the capacity to throw a couple of jabs. It is not unheard of for President Trump to get a little bit upset. There was at times where he was insulting [former White House adviser] Steve Bannon eight years ago, and all that kind of got remedied,” Kirk added. “It’s all part of the Trump story. Sometimes things get very heated, and then there’s a reconciliation — there’s a rapprochement. And we all agree that we want Elon Musk and we want Donald Trump to work collaboratively.”
“The best example in front of us is, as we’re doing this program, President Trump is hanging out with Ron DeSantis. Ron DeSantis, who — they were the worst of enemies imaginable … They were just attacking each other relentlessly,” he said. They were in the midst of a primary. Donald Trump did not have very good things to say about Ron DeSantis at all. And now they’re taking questions on the tarmac and — in his own words, he says that his relationship with Ron DeSantis is a ‘ten.’”
Kirk then played a clip of Trump and DeSantis fielding questions from reporters and touting their strong relationship.
“I think we have a ten,” Trump said in the clip. “We get along great.”
“That’s a big change from where we were in the primary,” Kirk noted. “I only introduce that piece of evidence to show that I think Elon and Trump will reconcile.”
