Fox News host Kayleigh McEnany said Wednesday that several Democrats recently arrested for interfering with United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents were looking to boost their public profile.
Democratic mayoral candidate Brad Lander of New York City was arrested by ICE agents Tuesday after he allegedly interfered with an operation in a Manhattan court, while Democratic Rep. LaMonica McIver of New Jersey was charged with assaulting an ICE agent after an incident in May at an ICE facility in Newark. McEnany referenced a headline from The New York Times in an article about the arrests.
“I’d love to have a beer when I am no longer pregnant with the headline writer and sit down and be like ‘That is your headline? Trump is arresting Democrats?’” McEnany said on “Outnumbered.” “The headline should be ‘attention-seeking Democrats engage in stunts and tomfoolery.’”

“Brad Lander accused of assaulting a federal officer,” McEnany continued. “You have that [LaMonica] McIver in Newark who is facing charges, forcibly impeding federal officers. They will have their days in court, but what do Brad Lander, [LaMonica McIver], [Democratic Mayor] Ras Baraka [of Newark] and [Democratic Rep.] Shri Thanedar [of Michigan], he’s the guy with the floppy hair accused of animal rights activist issues who tried to impeach Trump. What did they have in common? No one knows who they are!”
Democratic Sen. Alex Padilla of California, who was handcuffed and briefly detained after he tried to storm a press conference headlined by Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem Thursday, was sending out fundraising emails about the incident Friday, according to The Hill.
“This is all about getting attention. This is all about stunts. They all have their TV moment,” McEnany said. “Look at them. Congrats, guys, you got a good New York Times headline out of it.” (RELATED: Dem Rep Demands Trump Admin Pander To Foreign Flag-Waving Rioters)
McIver and Baraka were involved in a May 9 fracas outside the ICE facility in Newark; McIver and Democratic Reps. Bonnie Watson Coleman and Rob Menendez Jr. of New Jersey tried to gain access to the facility while claiming they were engaged in oversight of ICE activities.
Thanedar put forward an impeachment resolution targeting Trump on several issues, including allegedly defying court rulings, in April. Fellow Democrats criticized the effort, with Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib of Michigan endorsing a primary challenger to Thanedar.
