Elon Musk was sporting a shiner during a Friday press conference marking his final day as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), and while his explanation was an innocent one, the rumor mill spun into high gear.
In his farewell from the Oval Office, the billionaire Tesla/SpaceX CEO was honored for his service by President Donald J. Trump, and about an hour into the event, was asked about his visible black eye.
“What happened to your eye?” Musk was asked, and the outgoing DOGE boss responded that he suffered the injury while playing with Little X, his five-year-old son, whose full name is X Æ A-12.

“Well, I wasn’t anywhere near France,” he quipped, referring to the embarrassing video footage of French President Emmanuel Macron getting shoved in the face by his wife Brigitte as the two were ready to depart their plane on a trip to Vietnam.
“No, I just was horsing around with little X,” Musk explained. “And I said, ‘Go ahead, punch me in the face.’ And he did. Turns out even a 5-year-old punching you in the face… actually does this.”
“That was X that did it?” Trump inquired.
“I didn’t really feel much at the time, but I guess it bruises up,” Musk added. “But I just watched him around with the kids, basically.”
“I didn’t notice it, actually,” Trump said.
But the media did notice, and it quickly had Musk’s X platform buzzing with conspiracy theories, including one involving top White House aide Stephen Miller.
The immigration hawk’s wife Katie recently announced that she was was leaving the Trump administration to work for Musk’s companies full time.
One user wrote, “this is a black eye delivered by someone who can’t throw a punch and Stephen Miller’s wife just left him for Elon Musk…also Stephen Miller is left handed…probably unrelated.”

Others also suggested that Musk was slugged by a jealous husband.

Like Musk, Mrs. Miller was a “Special Government Employee,” who was limited to 130 days in the amount of time that she could serve.

Musk devoted himself to helping to identify and root out waste, fraud and corruption in the federal bureaucracy and was rewarded for his work with some of the most vicious hatred in recent history as the Democrats unleashed a relentless demonization campaign, inciting leftists to violence as they firebombed Tesla dealerships.
“He’s one of the greatest business leaders and innovators the world has ever produced,” Trump said, praising Musk. “He stepped forward to put his very great talents into the service of our nation, and we appreciate it.”
