Walz dials up Trump Derangement Syndrome to new apex of insanity

Trump Derangement Syndrome has been elevated to wacky heights by the Democratic Party, but nothing we have seen compares with this. Minnesota governor and former Democrat nominee for VP Tim Walz has compared Trump’s deportations of criminal illegal immigrants with the Gestapo, Adolf Hitler’s secret police that tortured and murdered millions during the Holocaust.

Walz told students at the University of Minnesota law school during a commencement address: “Donald Trump’s modern-day Gestapo is scooping folks up off the streets. They’re in unmarked vans, wearing masks, being shipped off to foreign torture dungeons. No chance to mount a defense. Not even a chance to kiss a loved one goodbye. Just grabbed up by masked agents, shoved into those vans and disappeared.”

“Kamala Harris labeled President Trump a ‘fascist,’ now her former running mate Tim Walz calls ICE agents the ‘Gestapo,’” said Sam Markstein of the Republican Jewish Coalition. “Tim Walz should know better, but this is what radical Democrats do when they don’t like law enforcement enforcing the law.”

Response from administration sources was immediate. “It is absolutely sickening to compare ICE law enforcement agents to the Gestapo,” reacted the Department of Homeland Security. “DHS has reported a more than 500% increase in attacks and assaults on ICE agents,” said Republican strategist Matt Whitlock. “Tim Walz knows exactly what he’s doing here.”

Walz is a hypocrite. “Don’t forget that it was Tim Walz who locked down our state for 15 months, established a tip line for people to report on their neighbors, closed our schools, and sent small business owners to jail,” said Minnesota gubernatorial candidate Kendall Qualls. So who is the real nazi, eh governor?

“We’re not far from a world where anyone could get that knock at a door,” Walz went on to tell the Minnesota law graduates. “And there’s no guarantee you’d get your day in court or that you’d ever make it home alive from whatever corner of the world they stick you in.” He received an energetic round of cheering for his exhibition of paranoia.

Trump Derangement Syndrome is a pejorative term used to describe irrational criticisms of Donald Trump. In the words of the late conservative commentator Charles Krauthammer, TDS is “the acute onset of paranoia in otherwise normal people in reaction to [Trump and his policies].”

As reported by The Independent, people with TDS “abandon all logic and reason due to their dislike of the president.” According to psychologist Brad Brenner, TDS “undermines mental well-being and shuts down meaningful conversation. Recognizing TDS,” he says, “helps us separate legitimate policy differences from raw hostility.”

Besides shutting down rational political discourse, TDS can inflame dangerous individuals and groups that look for reasons to create mayhem and civil discord. “This vile anti-American language can only be construed as inciting insurrection and violence,” said White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller in response to Walz’s inflammatory diatribe.

Hearing this irresponsible TDS nonsense from Governor Walz makes me wonder what kind of craziness he would have engaged in as vice president. The voters dodged a bullet when they chose not to vote for the Harris/Walz ticket. I can only hope that the loud approval from the Minnesota law students does not forebode a dystopian shape of things to come.
