CNN host Wolf Blitzer asked House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries on Wednesday whether Democrats can be trusted as new details emerge about the alleged cover-up of former President Joe Biden’s declining health.

White House aides and Democrats rushed to cover up Biden’s evident physical and mental decline in the second half of his term, and even considered putting him in a wheelchair, according to excerpts from “Original Sin” by CNN’s Jake Tapper and Axios’ Alex Thompson, first reported by Axios. As several damaging details have been learned, Blitzer blatantly suggested to Jeffries that voters will not be able to trust Democrats in the future due to the dishonest cover-up.

“Why should voters trust Democrats when it’s clear so many in your party went to great lengths to keep Biden’s condition hidden from the public?” Blitzer asked.

“I can’t tell you what happened between George Clooney and President Biden, I wasn’t at that event. What I can say is that we’re not looking back, we’re gonna continue to look forward because at this moment, we’ve got real problems that need to be addressed on behalf of the American people, including the Republican effort to snatch away healthcare, to snatch away food assistance and hurt veterans,” Jeffries said.

Jeffries did not answer whether he noticed any changes in Biden’s mental capacity during his conversations with him in his final days as president.

In their new book, Tapper and Thompson reported that Biden’s personal physician, Dr. Kevin O’Connor, privately warned Biden’s team that a “wheelchair might be necessary” if he suffered from one more fall in 2023 or 2024, Axios first reported Tuesday. O’Connor had expressed his concern about the toll the presidency was taking on the 81-year-old president’s health and often pushed his staff to add more rest time to his schedule.

Biden also did not recognize his longtime acquaintance, Hollywood actor George Clooney, during a political fundraiser in June 2024, according to Tapper and Thompson. Clooney was reportedly “shaken to his core” after viewing Biden’s “diminished” physical appearance.

Biden noticeably had a halting walk and suffered from a severe degeneration of his spine, which made him evidently weaker, according to Axios. After having tripped on a sandbag in June 2023, his aides became increasingly more cautious to avoid another fall before the 2024 election by figuring out shorter walking paths, insisting on using handrails on stairs, and having him wear sneakers.

Democrats finally expressed public concern about Biden’s physical and mental state and called on him to drop out of the race following his disastrous performance during the June 27 debate against the then-presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump. The White House asserted that Biden simply had a “bad night” on the debate stage and that they had been completely “transparent” about his health.

Tapper said during a Tuesday “CNN Newsroom” appearance that Democrats and the White House lied to everyone about Biden’s state. However, before the 2024 election, he had scolded several people on-air, including Lara Trump and former 2024 Democrat presidential candidate Dean Phillips, for stating that Biden was in a state of decline.

During the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in April, Thompson blamed the Biden administration for covering up the former president’s mental decline and criticized the media for remaining silent on the matter.
