Trump reportedly boots Doug Emhoff from Holocaust museum board

Daily Caller News Foundation

The Trump administration began releasing officials from the Biden-Harris administration on Tuesday who have been sitting on the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum board, including Doug Emhoff, who is the husband of former Vice President Kamala Harris.

Nominated just days prior to President Donald Trump’s inauguration, Emhoff was appointed to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum board by former President Joe Biden on Jan. 17. On Tuesday, the former second gentleman posted on X.

“Today, I was informed of my removal from the United States Holocaust Memorial Council. Let me be clear: Holocaust remembrance and education should never be politicized,” Emhoff wrote. “To turn one of the worst atrocities in history into a wedge issue is dangerous — and it dishonors the memory of six million Jews murdered by Nazis that this museum was created to preserve.”

“No divisive political decision will ever shake my commitment to Holocaust remembrance and education or to combating hate and antisemitism. I will continue to speak out, to educate, and to fight hate in all its forms — because silence is never an option,” Emhoff added.

In January, the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum’s 68-member Council included 55 appointees from then-former President Donald Trump, along with five members each from the House and Senate and three ex-officio members from the departments of State, Interior, and Education, according to the museum’s website.

In addition to removing Emhoff, the Trump administration also dismissed former Biden White House chief of staff Ron Klain, former Labor secretary Tom Perez, former domestic policy adviser Susan Rice, and Anthony Bernal, a former senior adviser to former first lady Jill Biden, according to The New York Times. Those let go from their board positions reportedly received an email from the White House Presidential Personnel Office on Tuesday morning thanking them for their service, the outlet reported.
