Janet Yellen scoffs at return of manufacturing to US as a ‘pipe dream’

Janet Yellen, former President Joe Biden’s Treasury Secretary, doesn’t like President Donald Trump’s tariffs and believes bringing manufacturing back to the U.S. may not be a good thing.

Trump’s America First agenda is not popular with many on the left, but Yellen is going as far as to claim that the end goal of bringing manufacturing jobs back to America may not even be a “desirable” thing to do.

In a CNBC Squawk Box interview, she blasted Trump’s tariffs and called American manufacturing a “pipe dream.”

“Perhaps it’s to bring back American manufacturing, but I really think that’s a pipe dream, and not something that is likely to be accomplished,” she said. “And we could even raise questions about whether or not, in a broad-based way, that’s a desirable goal.”

Her bizarre and seemingly anti-American stance was bashed by businessmen like Nate Morris on X.

“The very same leftwing elites who are responsible for gutting our manufacturing base, screwing over our workers and building up the Chinese Communist Party are upset because President Trump is committed to putting America First and ending their globalist agenda,” he wrote, sharing the video.

National Security Advisor Mike Waltz also weighed in on the former administration’s defeatist attitude.

“The previous administration accepted defeat and raced to off shore jobs and U.S. investment. President Trump has brought in Trillions and Trillions of dollars of foreign investment in record time!” he said.
