Left-wing programming alive and well inside massive US food conglomerate, report says

Daily Caller News Foundation

Kellanova, formerly known as Kellogg Company, has spent years championing various left-wing initiatives related to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) and climate change, according to a Consumer’s Research report released Friday.

Kellanova — which owns several popular snack and food brands including Cheez-It, Pringles, Pop-Tarts and Eggo — introduced a host of “woke” policies in recent years, including efforts to combat climate change and Business Employee Resource Groups which divide individuals into subcategories based on race, gender, and sexual preference, according to a report from Consumer’s Research first obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation. Notably, the Consumer’s Research report comes amid the Trump administration’s sweeping efforts to curtail DEI policies.

“Kellanova openly touts its commitment to racist DEI programs and radical Net Zero climate policies,” Will Hild, executive director of Consumer’s Research, said in a statement to the DCNF. “Food companies should be producing the best quality product at the lowest cost for its consumers not advancing out of touch political agendas. President [Donald] Trump has made it clear that these illegal practices like DEI need to be wiped out of our institutions, and companies like Kellanova need to get with the program. Consumers’ Research will continue to put companies on blast who continue to prioritize woke politics over consumers.”

Some of Kellanova’s employee resource groups include one called Hola!, a group aiming to uplift the “Latinx” community, the Kellogg African American Resource Group (KAARG,) a group to elevate “Black excellence,” and Proud, a group aiming to amplify LGBTQ+ voices, the report found. The company previously supported diversity-related hiring goals, stating in November 2023 that it aspired for 50/50 gender parity “at the management level globally” and “25% People of Color at the management level” in the U.S. by the end of 2025, according to the report.

Additionally, Kellanova has committed to reaching “net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across the value chain by 2050” in an attempt to combat climate change, Consumer’s Research found. The company notably featured RuPaul, a drag queen, on Cheez-It boxes in 2022 as part of a promotional campaign celebrating 30 years of reality television, according to the report.

Trump has been rapidly moving to dismantle DEI programs embedded in U.S. federal government agencies and schools since he returned to the Oval Office, including signing several executive orders targeting diversity policies in the public and private sectors. While the president’s DEI rollbacks have led to massive public scrutiny from Democrats, some surveys have shown that many voters support ending diversity programs in federal agencies and schools.

A variety of businesses have begun scaling back on DEI policies this year, including Citigroup and Goldman Sachs. Relatedly, several longtime corporate sponsors have begun scaling back their support for various pride events across the U.S. in recent weeks.
