Move over Jasmine Crockett, CNN poll shows AOC is new ‘leader’ of the Democratic Party

It is said that nature abhors a vacuum, which could explain why there is so much jostling to become the “leader” of the Democrat Party following their abysmal showing in 2024.

The electoral beatdown of Vice President Kamala Harris was so shocking that it knocked the Democratic world off its proverbial axis. As the United States prepared for a second term helmed by President Donald Trump, his generally enthusiastic opposition was all but silent, stunned into self-reflection by the enormity of their defeat. The question on everyone’s mind was, and still is, who is the face of the Democratic Party?

While the debate rages between the old guard and the new blood about whose vision for the left should be the blueprint for the future, a new CNN poll sheds some light on who is viewed as “the leader” of the party.

While none of the numbers reflect overwhelming unity, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is taking the lead by the slimmest of margins. She even managed to beat out the former vice president, former President Barack Obama, and fellow progressive Rep. Jasmine Crockett who has been repping the party in media hits lately.

But it isn’t some random CNN poll that is saying this. Don Lemon joined Bill Maher’s Club Random podcast and expressed similar sentiments, advising the Democrat Party to lean into their more popular members like AOC, Crockett, and Rep. Eric Swalwell.
