‘Like crickets’: Sen. Blackburn slams complete Democratic silence on violence against businesses

Daily Caller News Foundation

Republican Tennessee Senator Marsha Blackburn appeared on Fox Business Wednesday and slammed the Democratic Party’s lack of response to violence against businesses.

Tesla experienced violence over Elon Musk’s cuts to the federal workforce, prompting President Donald Trump to declare such violence against Tesla dealerships as domestic terrorism with severe consequences for perpetrators. During an appearance on “The Bottomline,” Blackburn criticized the Democratic Party’s silence on the matter.

“If it was parents at a school board meeting, or people that were praying outside of an abortion clinic, the Biden DOJ would classify them as domestic terrorists,” Blackburn said when asked about the Biden administration’s move to label pro-life activists as domestic terrorists.

The recent silence from Democrats, Blackburn said, is noticeable as businesses suffer from acts of vandalism and arson.

“I find it so interesting that the Democrats here in Washington, D.C. have had absolutely nothing to say about people that are showing up,” Blackburn said. “They are burning these dealerships. They are smashing the windows. They’re lighting the cars on fire, and they are doing this to cause violence, disruption, and destruction of property.”

Blackburn criticized Democrats’ double standards in how to handle violent acts.

“What you’re seeing from the Democrats is complete silence. It’s like crickets when it comes to dealing with this, the same thing that happened when there have been other items which have been violence or individuals that are trying to stoke violence and disruption,” Blackburn said.

In 2021, the Biden administration expanded the scope of domestic terrorism to include a wide range of ideologies, among them those motivated by single-issue ideologies such as abortion. This approach targets anyone using violence to further pro-life or pro-choice beliefs.

Vandals have targeted Tesla dealerships and chargers nationwide due to Musk’s roles as a White House senior advisor and chairman of the Department of Government Efficiency. Recent weeks have seen multiple attacks on Tesla, coinciding with Musk’s ongoing efforts to reduce federal government expenditures.
