Tlaib and fellow leftist lawmakers demand that Trump release Columbia U. agitator

More than a dozen Democrat lawmakers, led by Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) are demanding that the Trump administration immediately release a militant agitator who led anti-Israel protests at Columbia University.

In a Monday letter to Homeland Security Director Kristi Noem, the “Squad” member and a baker’s dozen of her fellow congressional bomb throwers called for Mahmoud Khalil to be freed from detention at an U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility where he is awaiting deportation.

“I’m joining 13 of my colleagues to demand that the Trump Administration immediately releases Mahmoud Khalil. Their illegal actions set a dangerous precedent. We cannot allow them to shred our constitutional rights to free speech and due process. Free Mahmoud Khalil,” Tlaib wrote in a post to X, sharing a copy of the letter.

The former Columbia graduate student was taken into federal custody over the weekend and immediately became a martyr figure to the Jew-hating left which has been reenergized in recent days and is now being redirected against President Donald J. Trump at a time when organized violence is targeting Tesla locations to protest Elon Musk’s work with DOGE which is dismantling the Democrats’ money laundering machine and purging useless activists from government.

“We must be extremely clear: this is an attempt to criminalize political protest and is a direct assault on the freedom of speech of everyone in this country,” Tlaib and the terrorist sympathizers wrote. “Khalil’s arrest is an act of anti-Palestinian racism intended to silence the Palestinian solidarity movement in this country, but this lawless abuse of power and political repression is a threat to all Americans.”

“President Trump has threatened that ‘this is the first arrest of many to come,’ and if unchecked, this authoritarian playbook will be applied to any and all opposition to his undemocratic agenda,” they added.

“Mahmoud Khalil must be freed from DHS custody immediately. He is a political prisoner, wrongfully and unlawfully detained, who deserves to be at home in New York preparing for the birth of his first child,” the lawmakers wrote. “Universities throughout the country must protect their students from this vile assault on free thought and expression, and DHS must immediately refrain from any further illegal arrests targeting constitutionally protected speech and activity,” the Democrats demanded.

Among those signing the letter were the party’s new ideological thought leader Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX), Somalia-born radical Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), racist hysteric Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), rising black progressive star and Kamala Harris ally Rep. Lateefah Simon (D-CA), and Rep. Al Green (D-TX) who was formally censured after he shouted and waved his “pimp cane” at Trump during the president’s speech to a joint session of Congress last week.

Tlaib recently stuck out like a sore thumb when she was the sole vote opposing a bill cracking down on the tunnels used by Mexican cartels for drug and human smuggling at the southern border.

X users blistered Tlaib and her friends over their defense of the Jew-hating extremist.

Notably missing from the names on the letter was “Squad” leader Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), whose clout has been waning as Democrats have turned to the trash-talking Crockett as their most visible public face.

“We will find, apprehend, and deport these terrorist sympathizers from our country — never to return again,” Trump pledged.
