Black Lives Matter Plaza in D.C. could soon be gone, mayor says

Despite all the theater that went into capitulating to the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020, it would appear that even Washington, D.C.’s mayor can’t stop the “evolution” of the times.

Following the death of George Floyd, the racial grievance industry exploded into protests, riots, and demands of businesses and elected leaders. Whether it was the implementation of DEI initiatives or the installation of a public art piece, the Black Lives Matter organization got to work making its mark on America. One of the pieces that was designed to show solidarity with the group’s purpose was the Washington, D.C., Black Lives Matter Plaza, a two-block-long mural on the road.

A recent statement on the “Evolution of the Black Lives Matter Plaza” put out by Mayor Muriel Bowser implies that the massive installment may not be around much longer.

“We have long considered Black Lives Matter Plaza’s evolution, and the plaza will be part of DC’s America 250 mural project, where we will invite students and artists to create new murals across all eight wards,” the statement reads. “The mural inspired millions of people and helped our city through a very painful period, but now we can’t afford to be distracted by meaningless congressional interference. The devastating impacts of the federal job cuts must be our number one concern. Our focus is on economic growth, public safety, and supporting our residents affected by these cuts.”
