Barack Obama — the worst president in American history

Op-ed views and opinions expressed are solely those of the author.

During a speech last week, I asked the audience how many of them believed that Joe Biden was the worst president in US history. The response was unanimous—all of them chose Biden. They were shocked when I disagreed. The man I named as our worst president was Barack Obama.

Biden was corrupt and “cognitively challenged” but he was not an ideologue. We have had other corrupt presidents and some, like Woodrow Wilson, who were cognitively out to lunch, but until Obama we never elected a president who hates the United States and everything it stands for.

Barack Hussein Obama presided over the first attempt by a sitting president to take America down. “He has done his level best to destroy it through fanning flames of hatred of all it stands for,” said WorldNetDaily editor Joseph Farah. For eight years, I watched Obama’s concentrated assault on our values.

Our country today is not the same as the one Obama took over in 2009. Showing his contempt for the Constitution, Obama did everything he could to expand the power of government at the expense of individual liberty. He ignored the separation of powers by doing an end run around Congress with his numerous executive orders. He pushed for increased entitlements, especially healthcare because he knew they would increase government control over the individual.

His statement, “If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that—somebody else made that happen,” invalidated the American Dream. Obama’s positions in case after case denied the principle of personal responsibility, stoked the fires of racial discord, and made lawlessness acceptable. He attempted to move the country from meritocracy to an arbitrary system of race-based tests for “fairness” and “social justice.”

Obama’s foreign policy was designed to weaken us, embolden our enemies, and disappoint our friends. With his disdain for private property (other people’s, not his), Obama sought the redistribution of income and a transition from capitalism to socialism. He argued that the way to end poverty is to take wealth away from the rich.

In other words, Obama attacked all the reasons why people from everywhere in the world want to live in the USA. American Thinker summed it up: “Barack Obama is trying to destroy America’s essence, that commitment to liberty that makes her unique in this world, and that makes her uniquely American.” From the very first day of his presidency, Obama was apologizing all over the world for what he perceived as America’s shortcomings and transgressions. At the core of his message, said the Heritage Foundation, was “the concept that the US is a flawed nation that must seek redemption by apologizing for its past ‘sins’.”

I still find it hard to believe that we are describing a president of the United States. “Never before in American history have we had a president who seeks decline,” wrote Dinesh D’Souza in Obama’s America: Unmaking the American Dream, “who is actually attempting to downsize his country. He subscribes to an ideology that says it is good for America to go down so that the rest of the world can come up.”

Why would Obama want to destroy our country? His country? The answer can be found when we examine the list of prominent leftists—Frank Marshall Davis, Charles Ogletree, Saul Alinsky, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayers, and others—whose ideological influence loomed large in Obama’s personal development. With a similar pedigree, anyone else running for president would have been crucified by the press and the political class. Obama received a free pass.

The socialist Left, said Steve Baldwin in Western Journalism, believed the Obama era was the best opportunity ever to transform America to a socialist-based economy, and to eradicate our commitment to a Constitution designed to limit federal power. The destructive forces set loose by eight years of Obama’s presidency—and spilling over to the Biden/Harris administration—have been implanted in our political system and in our brains. We need to root them out.

What I have just described is sufficient to label Obama as the most reprehensible president in American history, but his worst offense is the way he has acted as facilitator for the assault by special interest groups against the rights of the majority. One manifestation of this assault is the distortion of the term diversity and the rise of the racist policy known as Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). I call this movement the tyranny of the minority. The majority has agonized and sweated and bled for its rights. We should be able to accommodate the rights of our minorities without depriving the majority of theirs.

Make no mistake about this: The Left’s agenda is driven by minority voices that have one thing in common. They hate America. They are the product of Obama’s continuing influence. The size of the actual minority that constitutes the “woke” American Left is much smaller than the left-leaning media would like us to believe. “The actual number of the woke remains small,” said Scott McConnell in The American Conservative, “perhaps six percent of the population. But it isn’t powerful enough to control the country if majorities are mobilized to resist it.” Despite the size of this group, its harmful influence should not be underestimated.

The rise of Donald Trump was essential to defending the values that Obama holds in contempt. It has not been a picnic. Obama’s leftist supporters in the Deep State are doing everything possible to derail the Trump revolution. The efforts of Trump and Elon Musk to weed them out must succeed if we have a chance to re-establish the country in the wake of Obama’s assault.
