AP frets on eve of Super Bowl that 11 of 32 NFL teams have not had a black head coach – then slams Trump

Proving once again that there’s no issue the media can’t turn into a political nightmare, the Associated Press is going after the National Football League.

As the Super Bowl approaches and Americans gear up to watch the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles battle it out at Caesar’s Superdome, the AP has their eyes on something else entirely: The racial makeup of coaches in the league.

Watch:

“Out of 32 NFL franchises in the league, 11 of them have never had a full-time head coach who is black,” AP’s Amira Borders said. “Research by the Associated Press looking at the past 25 years shows 18% of new full-time head coaches are black.”

“Meanwhile, more than 50% of the league’s players are,” the video continues. “AP reporters spoke with more than 65 players to get their thoughts on the topic. 36% said they were discouraged or disappointed by the numbers. The Rooney Rule requires teams to interview minority candidates. Just one of six openings this off-season went to a black head coach.”

Then, of course, they have to bring up the president.

“As President Donald Trump cuts government DEI programs and some companies roll back such initiatives, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell says the league will continue its efforts,” the video ends.
