Army recruiting smashes records after Trump win

It looks like President Donald Trump’s 2024 electoral victory has boosted morale among the armed forces.

Army recruiting, which has recently suffered so badly they have resorted to teaming up with celebrities to no avail, has shot through the roof since Trump was elected and then inaugurated on January 20. According to the U.S. Army, December 2024 was the most productive recruiting month in 15 years, breaking previous records.

Nearly 350 soldiers were enlisted every single day during the month, the branch announced in a social media post.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth proudly touted the news as well in a post of his own.

“BREAKING: In December 2024, the [US Army] had its best recruiting number in 12 years. In January 2025, the Army hit its best recruiting number in 15 YEARS. BOTTOM LINE: America’s youth want to serve under the bold & strong “America First” leadership of [Trump],” he wrote.

The Army has tried a number of tactics to boost recruitment numbers in the last few years, including in October 2023 when they expanded their “focus on a larger share of the labor market and the creation of a specialized talent acquisition workforce,” according to Fox News.

They also formulated a Future Soldier Preparatory Course, which has allowed potential recruits to obtain resources to overcome academic and physical fitness issues that would otherwise prevent them from being able to enlist.

Unfortunately, the good news ends there, as the Army still missed its yearly recruitment goal by 41,000. It remains to be seen if recruitment numbers will continue to rise under Trump.
