Trump seeks compensation from Ukraine for everything US has done

A seemingly strange trade deal is in the works as President Donald Trump seeks compensation from Ukraine for American support.

While former President Joe Biden appeared content offering the besieged country support in the form of finances and firepower, Trump is looking to receive some “rare earth” in return.

“We’re looking to do a deal with Ukraine where they’re going to secure what we’re giving them with their rare earth and other things,” he explained to reporters at the White House.

“I want to have security of rare earth,” he added, noting that Kyiv appears ready to make a deal.

“We’re putting in hundreds of billions of dollars. They have great rare earth. And I want security of the rare earth, and they’re willing to do it.”

The Washington Post reported that an anonymous senior Ukrainian official confirmed that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s administration is “ready to sign documents about joint agreements” adding that “having a strategic U.S. interest in Ukraine is a key component to our security in the future.”

Trump supporters heavily criticized the former president’s spending spree on Ukraine, with many believing those funds would be better spent at home on suffering Americans. With this agreement, the United States could enrich itself with crucial elements, something that national security experts say China has taken the lead on. Greenland is also reported to have rare earth deposits, which may explain Trump’s interest in obtaining access to the country.

In the interim, Trump announced that war-ending negotiations continue.

“We made a lot of progress on Russia, Ukraine,” he said. “We’ll see what happens. We’re going to stop that ridiculous war.”

Zelenskyy insists that whatever negotiations ensue, he wants Ukraine to take part, “They may have their own relations, but talking about Ukraine without us – it is dangerous for everyone.”
