Reporter tries to pit Trump against Musk, his response is perfect

The media and other bad actors are on a mission to drive a wedge between President Donald J. Trump and Elon Musk who has helped to supercharge the America First agenda, but the newly inaugurated leader isn’t playing along.

On Thursday, Trump was taking questions after ordering the declassifying of the JFK, RFK and MLK assassination files when a reporter went off topic to bring up Musk’s remarks critical of the tech giants that have pledged to invest $500 billion in AI infrastructure, one of the first big announcements by the president after he took office.

There is bad blood between the Tesla/SpaceX CEO and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, one of the companies involved in the project, and the bad guys are exploiting Musk’s remark that “They don’t actually have the money” for the Stargate project to goad Trump into denouncing his key ally, and he’s not taking the bait, giving a perfect response to the journalist.

“Mr. President, related to your AI EO, just hours after you made that big Stargate announcement, Elon Musk tweeted that they don’t actually have the money. Is that true?” Asked the reporter.

“I don’t know if they do, but you know, they’re putting up the money, the government’s not putting up anything. They’re putting up money. They’re very rich people, so I hope they do. I mean, Elon doesn’t like one of those people,” he responded.

“Does it bother you that Elon Musk criticized a deal that you made publicly?” The reporter persisted.

“No it doesn’t. He hates one of the people in the deal,” Trump answered, drawing additional prodding by the reporter whether he’d spoken with Musk since the post to X that the media described as “undercutting” the announcement.

“I’ve spoken to all of them actually,” Trump said. “People in the deal are very, very smart people but Elon, one of the people he happens to hate but I have certain hatreds of people too.”

Left-leaning Politico poured fuel on the fire, quoting an unnamed “Republican close to the White House” who allegedly said that Trump’s staff is “furious” about “Musk using his massive social media platform to pour cold water on the infrastructure deal.”

Another anonymous source identified only as a “Trump ally” gave Politico some particularly incendiary fodder to try and pit Trump against Musk.

“It’s clear he has abused the proximity to the president,” the alleged ally said. “The problem is the president doesn’t have any leverage over him and Elon gives zero f**ks.”

Another source quoted by Politico is Steve Bannon who has declared war on Musk and has become a regular feature on left-wing websites that are exploiting his angry diatribes to foment dissension.

The high profile MAGA influencer told the outlet that Chief of Staff Susie Wiles needs to “sit him down” and “sort it out immediately.”
