Vance shames media for new Hegseth smear that has already been debunked: ‘this is a disgrace’

Vice President JD Vance is not going to sit idly by while the media smears his boss’s Defense Secretary nominee.

The media’s love for a good hit piece was on full display Tuesday when they rushed to publish articles on the “new allegations” facing Pete Hegseth, the left’s latest punching bag. As if accusing him of being a sex-crazed alcoholic wasn’t enough, outlets are now attempting to smear him as a wife-beater whose former spouse lived in fear.

According to the reporting, the Hegseth’s ex-sister-in-law, Danielle Hegseth, told senators that he was “abusive” with his then-wife Samantha Hegseth, even going as far as to claim Samantha had a “code word” that she would use if she needed assistance. She also said Samantha “hid in her closet from Hegseth because she feared for her personal safety.”

However, Danielle admitted that she “did not personally witness physical or sexual abuse by Hegseth,” but described his behavior as occasionally being “erratic and aggressive.”

In a statement, Hegseth’s lawyer Tim Parlatore denied the allegations. Why? Because the ex-wife in question never levied accusations of abuse against Hegseth.

“Sam has never alleged that there was any abuse, she signed court documents acknowledging that there was no abuse and recently reaffirmed the same during her F.B.I. interview,” he said, slamming Danielle as “an anti-Trump far-left Democrat” with “an ax to grind against the entire Hegseth family.”

“Ms. Hegseth could not be reached for comment on Tuesday,” the New York Times reported. “In a statement to NBC News on Monday, before Danielle Hegseth filed her detailed affidavit, she said ‘there was no physical abuse in my marriage’ and that she would not speak further about the matter.”

Yet still, with denials from the actual participants of the marriage in hand, the media continued to put out stories regarding the allegations. This drew backlash from conservatives and Trump supporters, including Vance.

Washington Free Beacon investigative reporter Andrew Kerr weighed in on the ethics of the media going forward with this story, even in the face of denials from both involved parties.

I would only run a story like this if I had good reason to believe the ex-wife was making the statement under duress or due to an NDA. But none of these outlets have addressed that. They either bury her denial or don’t even address it.
