NBC slammed for not airing national anthem before NFL playoff game: ‘Disgraceful’

Sports fans are unhappy about more than bad calls after NBC Sports made the interesting choice to cut the national anthem ahead of Sunday’s playoff game.

The NFL game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Los Angeles Rams took place the day before President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration and marks the second time in January that a broadcaster has opted out of airing the national anthem after a disaster.

The Rams played the game amid devastating fires in Los Angeles, making a show of American unity that much more important. However, NBC Sports chose not to do so, and this didn’t sit right with many fans on X:

As BizPac Review previously reported, the 2025 Sugar Bowl was postponed following the horrific ISIS-inspired terror attack in New Orleans in which a driver plowed recklessly into a large crowd of holiday revelers. When the game was given the green light, Americans came together in the Caesars Superdome where they sang the national anthem and chanted “USA! USA! USA!” in a heartwarming display of patriotism.

But if you were watching ESPN that evening, you wouldn’t have seen any of that as the network opted to air extended commentary from announcers instead.
