Musk makes a very personal delivery to California’s first responders

Billionaire X owner Elon Musk is doing what he can to help firefighters in Los Angeles by personally delivering Starlink to those who need internet service.

The wildfires in California have been devastating, wiping out homes and acres upon acres of land as firefighters work tirelessly to contain the massive blaze. Internet service to those affected by the fires has been interrupted, but Musk is working to remedy that with his very own satellite internet devices.

According to Fox News, the nonprofit rescue group Grey Bull Rescue met with Musk and emergency responders to help set up lines of communication for those on the front lines. Grey Bull Rescue Chair Bryan Stern spoke to Fox News Digital on Monday, touting the critical importance of being able to communicate with those who are putting their lives on the line, as well as those whose lives have been turned upside down by the fires.

“Effective communication is essential in any crisis, war, or disaster—especially in remote and devastated areas where communication infrastructure is destroyed like we see here in California,” he said. “Yesterday, Grey Bull Rescue was honored to assist the Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACFD) by securing Starlink mini units to provide them with critical communications in areas devastated by wildfires.”

He also pointed out that emergency departments in the Los Angeles area have been requesting Starlinks for “quite some time for expressly this type of scenario,” but bureaucracy ended up getting “in the way of this mission-critical need of effective disaster communications for first responders.”

Musk announced the donation of both Starlink devices and cybertrucks to California on X.

“Apologies to those expecting Cybertruck deliveries in California over the next few days,” he wrote. “We need to use those trucks as mobile base stations to provide power to Starlink Internet terminals in areas of LA without connectivity. A new truck will be delivered end of week.”
