Kamala called petty for breaking tradition, snubbing Vance family, but others defend the move

Vice President Kamala Harris is taking heat on social media after making a move that suggests she may still be bitter about her November loss.

Harris has reportedly declined to extend a formal invitation to Vice President-elect JD Vance and his family for a sit-down or tour of the Naval Observatory residence they will be living in following the inauguration. In November, JD’s wife Usha reached out to Harris and her husband to get an idea of how the location would need to be child-proofed, as the pair have three children under the age of eight.

The communication request was ” initially rebuffed by a Harris political appointee,” according to CBS News, but the Vances were later able to get in contact with Navy aides for assistance. A person familiar with the call said that the aides were able to help the Vance family with most of the moving logistics and discuss the layout of the place.

Sources claim that Harris was never extended an invitation by then-outgoing Vice President Mike Pence, who disagrees, saying a discreet offer was made as President Donald Trump was not a fan of the incoming administration. Additionally, Harris came in at the height of COVID hysteria, when gatherings were frowned upon and even banned in some areas. However, sources also confirmed to CBS that a formal sit-down between the Pence family and Harris’s family never happened.

“People close to Harris defended her decision not to invite Vance to visit, a tradition that was broken during the Trump-Pence administration. Harris’ team has been focused on an overseas trip that was canceled and on the California wildfires,” the outlet noted.

Social media users were not happy with the lack of decorum from the outgoing vice president:
