Louisiana owns it. Governor admits he doesn’t have any faith in New Orleans mayor’s ability to keep city safe

Even Louisiana’s own lieutenant governor admits he doesn’t have any faith in New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell’s ability to keep the city safe.

Louisiana Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser revealed to the Christian Post that he isn’t confident Cantrell can protect the people of New Orleans, following a New Year’s Eve terror attack. He claimed that before the shocking attack, he saw some improvement in crime rates.

“Prior to this horrible incident, I was seeing major changes and improvements in crime in the quarter,” he said. “In saying that, the mayor is completely — I don’t want to say she doesn’t have a clue — she just doesn’t care.”

He made clear that those attending large events like the Super Bowl and Mardi Gras would notice plenty of presence of federal officials, state police,” as well as “other sheriff offices leaning in to absolutely make the city safe.”

“We are going to make this city safe,” Nungesser promised. “The food, the music, the culture is like nowhere else in the world.”

He also praised Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry for quickly moving to “to protect arguably the most valuable product in the state’s $1.9 billion tourism industry,” by placing troopers in New Orleans.

Nungesser has previously lashed out at Cantrell over the terror attack, saying she has been “nonexistent” and slamming the lack of barriers that could have prevented at least some of the destruction caused by the ISIS-inspired attack suspect.
