BLM hires rapper-activist who described Louis Farrakhan as her ‘grandfather’ and a ‘great leader’

Black Lives Matter (BLM) Grassroots announced Thursday it had hired Queen YoNasDa LoneWolf — a rapper-activist who has praised anti-Semitic Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan.

LoneWolf, whom BLM brought on as a “special projects strategist,” described Farrakhan as her “grandfather” in a July 2020 Instagram post and as a “great leader” in a February 2023 interview with the Nation of Islam’s newspaper The Final Call. Farrakhan is a notorious anti-Semite, previously calling Jews “satanic” and describing Adolf Hitler as “a very great man.”

“I love Farrakhan!!!!!!” LoneWolf wrote in a 2016 Facebook post. “I don’t care how you ‘dress up’ your ideas give the props to Farrakhan!!! … He has given us the blueprint for all oppressed people so as you are carrying out what you heard him say put some respect on Farrakhan’s name.”

In addition to LoneWolf, BLM hired Cornel West — an academic and author who ran for president in 2024 as an independent with BLM leader Melina Abdullah as his running mate. West claimed in January 2024 that former Harvard president Claudine Gay was pushed out due to racism and that her resignation was forced by “the same figures and forces enabling the ethnic cleansing and genocidal attacks on Palestinians in Gaza.”

Abdullah’s daughter Thandiwe was also hired as a communications specialist, according to the announcement.

BLM Grassroots has received scrutiny for keeping its expenditures “intentionally private” by declining to file tax disclosures because Abdullah “didn’t want folks to know how the money was moving.” BLM reportedly received $8.7 million from a large liberal charity called the Tides Foundation in 2022 despite not operating as a nonprofit until 2023.

“In my 20 years of watchdog work, this is one of the sloppier tax filings I have seen,” CharityWatch executive director Laurie Styron told the Washington Free Beacon in October, in reference to the group’s 2023 tax forms. “There aren’t one or two mistakes here. This document is unusable for its intended purpose of providing the public with a means of holding the charity accountable. It’s unethical.”

BLM Grassroots did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
