“The Young Turks” co-host Ana Kasparian said that Democrats would “keep losing” elections if they told Americans to ignore “quality of life issues” and continued to “disrespect” voters.
After Vice President Kamala Harris lost the 2024 election to President-elect Donald Trump, some Democrats engaged in self-reflection about the cause for the defeat after Trump made substantial gains among both black and Hispanic voters. Kasparian said she resonated with a quote from California Republican Party chairwoman Jessica Milan Patterson in the clip that surfaced Friday on social media.

“I’ve never read a quote that resonated with me more than this one does, so I’m going to read it,” Kasparian told co-host Cenk Uygur. “‘You don’t get red pilled overnight. It’s the issues that affect your everyday life first, and then you connect them with people and then you connect it with a party.’ That is so true and that is what are trying to get across to people,” added after reading the quote.
“When you’re affected day to day by quality of life issues and all you hear from the Democratic Party is, ‘Shut up, no, it’s not happening, and if it’s happening, it’s not that big of a deal,’ man,” Kasparian continued. “That really does red pill people. It builds resentment toward the party. And I really think the Democrats need to pivot away from that because they’re going to keep losing if they think that that type of treatment of voters, that type of disrespect toward voters is going to get them anywhere.”
Kasparian has become critical of left-wing positions on child sex changes and crime in recent years, even calling out Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom of California, labeling the potential future presidential candidate America’s worst governor by “a lot” during a Nov. 27 episode of the show.
“I talk to normies, people who don’t follow politics or news religiously, right?” Uygur responded. “And so in California, whenever you talk to normies and you ask them about Biden, what is the first thing they say? Too old, every single person, Democratic, Republican, it didn’t matter, because they all have eyes, and so, if you’re not watching Morning Joe and having him brainwash you every morning about you know, he’s young and dynamic young and dynamic, you’re gonna see Biden once, twice and go he is way too old.”
