‘Shouldn’t hang his hat’: Tom Homan says Biden better not assume only American citizen was behind New Orleans attack

Daily Caller News Foundation

Border czar-designate Tom Homan said on Wednesday that President Joe Biden shouldn’t assume that only American citizens were behind a terrorist attack in New Orleans.

Authorities say 42-year-old Shamsud Din Jabbar drove a Ford pickup truck into revelers in New Orleans early New Year’s Day morning before being killed in a shootout with police, killing at least ten people and wounding dozens of others. Homan took aim at Biden’s remarks about the attack during an appearance on “Hannity.”

“They both [Las Vegas Cybertruck explosion and New Orleans attack] were on a suicide mission, neither one thought they were going to go home and I think you’re going to see ISIS affiliation on both of them. But, you know, the president bragged today, you know, this is U.S. citizen, American,” Homan told “Hannity” guest host Tammy Bruce. “He shouldn’t hang his hat on that.”

“Let’s remember, just a couple of months ago we arrested eight people from Tajikistan in New York City, Philadelphia, and L.A. They were planning a terrorist-type event – a Russian-type terrorist event here in the United States. Luckily the intel community caught them before they did it. Let’s remember, you got over 2 million got-aways, known got-aways over the southern border.”

The Border Patrol encountered over 7.4 million illegal immigrants since the start of fiscal year 2021, according to figures released by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

“I wouldn’t hang his hat on, you know, these attacks being done by U.S. citizens,” Homan told Bruce. “It’s coming. Even Christopher Wray… said the southern border is the biggest national security vulnerability he’s ever seen.”

President-elect Donald Trump named Homan as his border czar on Nov. 11, after promising to ramp up deportation of illegal immigrants during the 2024 campaign.
