The GOP holds its largest advantage on the economy in over 30 years, with 53% of Americans trusting Republicans more than Democrats on the issue, according to a poll released Tuesday.
Republicans held a 14-point lead over the Democrats, of whom only 39% of Americans said handle the economy better, according to a Gallup poll. The GOP scored 10 points higher on the economy than last year, marking the largest margin between the two parties since 1991.
The GOP also scored 22 points higher than the Democrats on national security, with only 35% of Americans thinking the latter does “a better job of protecting the country from international terrorism and military threats,” according to the poll. The survey also indicates that more Americans trust Republicans rather than Democrats to do a better job at handling whatever issue they deem most important, with 44% to 36%, respectively.
Both parties scored similar marks on favorability, with Democrats and Republicans receiving 58% and 56% favorability ratings, respectively, according to the survey.

A NBC News survey released Sept. 26 found similar results on the economy, with Republicans leading Democrats 49% to 28%, also the largest margin since 1991. The GOP also scored higher marks than Democrats among issues like border security and crime, while voters tapped the latter party on topics including healthcare and abortion, according to the poll.
President Joe Biden has branded his fiscal policy as “Bidenomics” while he runs for a second term, which consists of increased stimulus programs and green energy subsidies, while resulting in high inflation.
The Gallup poll surveyed 1,016 adults across the country between Sept. 1 and Sept. 23 with a margin of error of plus or minus 4%.
