Director Christopher Wray is on his way out of the FBI – and his exit can’t come soon enough

The law enforcement veteran and founder of InVest USA discusses the actions of Wray, and why his departure is long overdue.

FBI Director Christopher Wray is finally on his way out. Thank goodness.

I say this as a law enforcement veteran who believes in following the firm letter of the law. And also as someone who watched with disgust as Wray walked all over U.S. citizens like they were a doormat, violating their rights while they were under surveillance or, worse yet, under investigation.

It was Wray’s FBI that sent a memo characterizing Catholics as potential political radicals. It was Wray’s FBI that went on a witch hunt for parents protesting woke policies in their local schools. Both of these actions were unacceptable and un-American.

Wray made the move to depart the FBI he ruined official, stating that he wouldn’t be waiting for re-elected President Donald Trump to kick him out of office in favor of his new nominee, Kash Patel.

During an internal FBI meeting on Wednesday, Wray confirmed the move, noting, “I’ve decided the right thing for the bureau is for me to serve until the end of my current administration in January and then step down.”

Absolutely. I’ve been talking about this for months, where he simply needs to face the fire instead of jumping over it as he’s been prone to doing in the past whenever any sort of investigation has come up.

“In my view, this is the best way to avoid dragging the bureau any deeper into the fray, while reinforcing the values and principles that are so important to how we do our work.”

Indeed. This is how his viewpoint should have been in the first place.

For months I’ve been talking about how the FBI has practically been dragging its knuckles under Joe Biden’s command. Ordering an unnecessary raid against Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago compound for “protective documents” when Biden had boxes of it practically sitting within his garage – and within reach of Hunter Biden, might I add. Ordering surveillance against innocent Americans that were just expressing the opinion that their God given rights had provided in the first place.

Trump had initially appointed Wray back in 2017, believing he was the right man for the job. But it was a misstep – on Wray’s part, not Trump’s – as he wasn’t capable of delivering as expected.

In fact, Wray was the one that launched a federal probe over how Trump had handled classified documents, something that eventually led to the invasion at Mar-a-Lago. As expected, those charges have been dropped, and Trump, surprise!, has been found innocent.

Trump has since reacted proudly, noting that Wray’s resignation is a “great day for America.” I couldn’t agree more.

“It will end the Weaponization of what has become known as the United States Department of Injustice,” he said in a Truth Social post. “We will now restore the rule of law for all Americans.”

Of course, I am sure that there will be some that question Patel as he enters the position. After all, a number of these FBI agents are used to Wray handling the reigns of the job, and aren’t likely to rest easy over the jarring decisions that Patel has in mind – namely shuffling agents across the United States instead of having one central office.

But considering everything that we’ve been through under Wray and the fumbling over the FBI’s poor decisions, it will be interesting to see what Patel does. He has clearly done his homework on the agency, which should reassure Americans – and rattle cages at the FBI. And I’m sure Trump will entrust in him even more than Wray, as he knows he is capable of not only performing his duties, but going beyond them in an effort to re-establish the FBI on the level it needs to be at. No more being asleep at the wheel and pointing the finger at innocent Americans. It’s time to find the criminals at large and take care of business. And leave Americans alone to enjoy our constitutional rights.

It’ll be tough cleaning up the mess Wray has made, that’s for sure. But I have utmost confidence that Trump is up for the job, and we’ll see something that we can be proud of when it comes to the FBI once more. That’s the level we need to be on, especially now, when the United States needs this agency the most.

Here’s to law and order making its much needed return, and a bright and healthy 2025! Merry Christmas, indeed.
