Dem legal eagle Marc Elias fumes over ABC News settlement with Trump: ‘Ring kissed’

The decision by ABC News and its star anchor George Stephanopoulos to settle a defamation lawsuit with President-elect Donald J. Trump didn’t sit well with leftists, especially Democrat legal eagle Marc Elias.

On Saturday, it was announced that the network agreed to pay Trump a whopping $15 million after he sued over Stephanopoulos repeatedly claiming that he was found “liable for rape” during a March interview with Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) on ABC’s “This Week,” the network’s Sunday morning political gabfest.

In addition to the money, to go for a future Trump presidential library, the anchor and network also were forced to apologize to Trump, which was too much for the election lawfare specialist who vented his spleen on X.

“Knee bent. Ring kissed. Another legacy news outlet chooses obedience,” Elias wrote in a post that also pimped his Democracy Docket newsletter.

The fuming lawyer continued to toss off angry posts over the settlement which could significantly alter the anti-Trump propaganda landscape going forward.

“I bet Bezos, Zuckerberg and the rest are bummed that they will now need to match the $15m payment to Trump in order to keep up with Disney,” he wrote.

“Does anyone have a list of legacy media that have not (yet) apologized to, praised and/or paid Trump since Election Day?” Elias sarcastically asked in another post.

“Kiss the ring. Bend the knee. Obey in advance. Not that complicated,” he carped, sharing a clip of CNN human potato Brian Stelter’s reporting of the settlement.

It’s probably understandable that Elias would be a bit grumpy after the election when Kamala Harris was beaten so badly that it rendered his legal chicanery irrelevant.

X users added to his woes by rubbing salt into the wound.

“ABC News and George Stephanopoulos regret statements regarding President Donald J. Trump made during an interview by George Stephanopoulos with Rep. Nancy Mace on ABC’s This Week on March 10, 2024,” ABC News said in a statement.
