Deep blue Boston votes unanimously to preserve its sanctuary city status

The Boston City Council voted unanimously Wednesday to put the interests of illegal immigrants ahead of the safety of Americans, promising to “protect” foreign nationals who are in the country illegally from any mass deportation campaign put forth by President Donald Trump’s incoming administration.

The effort to reaffirm Boston’s status as a sanctuary city ignores that the local ICE office “is one of the busiest in the country, making weekly arrests of illegal alien child rapists [and] pedophiles throughout Massachusetts, many of whom are often released from local custody [and] protected by sanctuary policies with ICE detainers ignored,” Fox News reporter Bill Melugin reported.

The 13-0 vote reaffirmed the Boston Trust Act, which was first enacted in 2014, according to the Boston Herald.

“The law prohibits Boston Police and other city departments from cooperating with ICE when it comes to detaining immigrants on civil warrants, while still allowing for cooperation in criminal matters like human trafficking, child exploitation, drug and weapons trafficking, and cybercrimes,” the newspaper reported, essentially ignoring that ICE detainers are not honored.

Gabriela “Gigi” Coletta Zapata, who chairs an Environmental Justice committee, stressed that illegal immigrants are welcome in the city.

“It’s not just a policy, but it is a promise to our immigrant neighbors that they are welcome here, and this is a safe haven, and they don’t have to live in fear of being unjustly scrutinized or even ripped away from their families,” Zapata said. “As we brace for impact, we’ve got to make sure that we all work together.”

Haitian-American City Council President Ruthzee Louijeune introduced the resolution and she echoed that sentiment.

“As the national climate grows increasingly hostile towards immigrant populations, we must reaffirm who we are as a city, our leadership role in maintaining a positive and welcoming environment here with our immigrant communities,” Louijeune said. “This resolution is just enforcing what is already on the books and what is already enforced, but I think our immigrant communities need to hear that we, as a Boston City Council, unanimously support them via the Trust Act.”

Meanwhile, in New York City, which is overrun with nearly 60,000 criminal aliens, Democratic Mayor Eric Adams made it clear earlier this week that he will work with the incoming administration to better protect citizens from those who “are here committing crimes, robberies, shooting at police officers, raping innocent people.”

“I would love to sit down with the border czar and hear his thoughts on how we are going to address those who are harming our citizens,” Adams said on Tuesday. “Find out what his plans are, where our common grounds are. We can work together.”
