Speaker Johnson says no more funding for Ukraine until Trump provides ‘new direction’

Speaker Mike Johnson is finally putting his foot down with the Biden administration, refusing to approve additional funds to Ukraine until President-elect Donald Trump takes office.

American voters have been plagued by many issues over the last several years, one of which is the massive amount of taxpayer funds being sent to fund the Ukraine defense against Russia. As the average citizen struggles to make ends meet, President Joe Biden has tapped into a seemingly endless cash stockpile to send overseas. Critics argue that since America is not directly involved in the war, we should not be sending such a large amount of resources to other countries.

Speaker Johnson announced that Congress will no longer be greenlighting any money for the country until after Trump has been inaugurated. This comes after the Biden administration pushed another $725 million out the door to Ukraine on Monday, sparking outrage.

Upon being asked by a reporter if he intends to approve an additional $24B to Ukraine, the speaker shut down that idea without hesitation.

“I’m not planning to do that. There are developments by the hour in Ukraine. I think, as we predicted and as I said to all of you weeks before the election, if Donald Trump is elected it will change the dynamic of the Russian war on Ukraine,” he responded.

“It is not the place of Joe Biden to make that decision now, we have a newly elected president and we’re going to wait and take the new commander-in-chief’s direction on all of that so I don’t expect any new Ukraine funding to come up now,” he added.
