Megyn Kelly responded to some sharp criticism of NPR by asking a familiar question to those who have been paying attention.
Sohrab Ahmari, founding editor of Compact, drew attention to the mindset at NPR, which he said uses “the label ‘far right’ to describe anything to the right of full-spectrum progressivism.” A mindset where the use of “gender-inclusive” language is deemed to be more accurate, based on a mistaken belief “that some women don’t menstruate.”
The reliably no-nonsense Kelly asked, “Why are we funding this bullsh*t?’
Why are we funding this? We don’t want our money going to this bullshit. https://t.co/qWT2L7ZSJT

NPR has insisted in the recent past that it receives “less than 1 percent of its $300 million annual budget” from the federally funded Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), but Fox News noted that “a deep dive into the data shows CPB funds smaller stations that funnel cash to NPR.” In effect, “a good deal of its budget comprises federal funds that flow to it indirectly” due to the 1967 Public Broadcasting Act, according to Howard Husock, a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute.
The call to strip NPR funding due to its left-leaning bias is nothing new, but with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) coming online, there is a lot of hope — perhaps too much — that this will finally happen.
Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on the social media platform X:
Makes no sense, needs to be defunded on day 1

They’re essentially MSNBC, except their voice has a charming, warm tone. Same politics, same agenda.
In 60 days, they will be fully defunded, God willing.— Monica (@Monica161820) November 24, 2024
Exactly! The lengths they’ll go to spin a simple fact into a political statement is absurd. It’s like, sure, let’s make language more “inclusive” while completely ignoring the basic point. DEFUND indeed!

DOGE can’t come fast enough. Although, I’m a bit nervous to even see what all this govt has been spending our hard earned tax dollars on

The American people have been actively funding leftist agitprop for decades.
NPR and PBS should have their funding line removed and forced to compete in the market just like any other media outlet.
Time to eradicate tools of the leftist propaganda machine.
