‘You’re crazy’: Nancy Mace spars with ABC reporter pressing her on banning ‘a penis’ from women’s bathrooms

Daily Caller News Foundation

Republican South Carolina Rep. Nancy Mace sparred with an ABC reporter Tuesday as he pressed her on her resolution to ban biological men from women’s spaces.

Mace’s resolution, which she introduced Monday, would mandate that individuals in the Capitol complex use a bathroom, locker room, or any other personal space that corresponds with their biological sex, which came as Democratic Delaware Rep.-elect Sarah McBride is about to enter Congress as the first member to identify as transgender. Mace told the reporter outside of the U.S. Capitol that she intends to protect women from the risk of rape or sexual assault in personal spaces.

“Should legislation be created targeted at one specific person?” the reporter asked.

“It doesn’t mention anyone in the legislation … I have said it’s a result of this. I’m not going to allow biological men into women’s private spaces. I will stand on the brink and in the way of anyone on the radical left who thinks it’s okay for a penis to be in a woman’s locker room or a bathroom or a changing room. Hell no. I’m not gonna stand for it and the speaker [Mike Johnson] said it will be in the House Rules package. If it’s not, I’ll be ready with a privileged motion to force a vote on this. This is not okay. I’m a survivor of rape, I’m a survivor of sexual abuse, and I’m not gonna allow a man in any female private spaces. Period, end of story.”

Mace then condemned the death threats she has received for introducing this legislation, including a threat from a social media user going by the name of “Venuspeenis,” who said he condones murder and fantasized about bashing Mace’s head on a bathroom floor.

The reporter cited Johnson, who said Tuesday that he believes every congressional member should be treated with “dignity and respect” to suggest that Mace’s bill is disrespecting McBride. The House speaker further stated that he believes that being a man or woman is based on a person’s biological sex.

“Speaker Johnson has said he wants to treat every new member with the words, ‘dignity and respect.’ Forcing this congressperson to go into a male bathroom, is that dignity and respect?” the reporter asked.

“Forcing women to share private spaces with men is not dignity and not respect and I’m absolutely gonna stand in the way of anyone who thinks it’s okay for a man to be in our locker rooms, and our changing rooms, our dressing rooms and women’s bathrooms. And in fact, if you agree with that, you’re crazy. Because that’s not okay, it’s not okay,” Mace replied.

Mace became a victim of rape at the age of 16 when a friend and classmate pinned her down as she continually yelled “no,” according to the Post and Courier. She said the traumatic incident, which she did not report over fears of her reputation, caused her to fade away and drastically change throughout what she referred to as the “hardest time in [her] life.”

A biological boy in a skirt raped a female student inside a girls’ bathroom at a public school in Loudoun County, Virginia. The school kept the incident a secret from the school community and denied that any sexual assault instances occurred as a result of their trans-inclusive policies.
