‘So deluded’: Presidential historian Allan Lichtman melts down on TV, clashes with Cenk Uygur after being called out

Daily Caller News Foundation

Historian Allan Lichtman clashed Tuesday with “The Young Turks” host Cenk Uygur in a heated debate that resulted in an on-air meltdown.

During an appearance on “Piers Morgan Uncensored,” the exchange between Uygur and Lichtman quickly spiraled into a war of words. The confrontation began when Uygur criticized Lichtman’s “Keys to the White House” prediction model, which has forecasted every presidential election winner since 1984.

“Don’t blame the voters. I think, look, we can get into this discussion but, one, I think you’re blaming the voters. I think it’s a terrible idea,” Uygur said. Uygur dismissed the methodology as “absurd” and “misguided,” accusing Lichtman of misunderstanding voter behavior and the dynamics of modern elections.

“I was right; you were wrong,” Uygur said.

“That’s a cheap shot, and I won’t stand for it,” Lichtman said. “I read your own followers’ comments, and they all trashed you. Every one of them and [they] supported me, so quiet with your personal attacks. Make whatever point you want. Don’t make it personal.”

The conversation quickly became heated, with both individuals speaking over one another. “You’re so deluded,” Uygur said. “At this program, I’ve never been able to finish a thought.”

“No, because you’re personally attacking me again,” Lichtman said.

“You got it wrong. You were preposterously and stupidly wrong. So, OK, all right. Can I just finish a goddamn thought ever on this show?” Uygur asked.

“Don’t call me stupid,” Lichtman said. “I admitted I was wrong. I don’t need you to call me stupid.”

“It’s great to see you Democrats all getting along so well,” Piers Morgan chimed in. “Hey Allan you deserve a tall glass of shut-up juice so can you just shut up for a second and let someone who knows what they’re doing?” Uygur asked.

“I will not sit here and stand for personal attacks for blasphemy against me. You don’t need to do that,” Lichtman said.

Lichtman previously attributed his incorrect prediction of Vice President Kamala Harris defeating President-elect Donald Trump to a surge in “disinformation” and what he described as Trump’s exploitation of bigotry. Lichtman, who had accurately predicted nine of the last 10 elections, claimed voters acted irrationally, swayed by xenophobia, misogyny, and racism.
