Bill Clinton has thoughts about what it would take for America to elect woman as president

While he’s not exactly the world’s foremost authority on respecting women, former President Bill Clinton is weighing in on the topic anyway.

More specifically, Clinton is discussing what kind of woman he believes would be most likely to succeed in a presidential race. Democrats have put up two female nominees, Bill’s wife Hillary Clinton and Vice President Kamala Harris, just for them to lose to President-elect Donald Trump. Certain factions of the left are claiming that this is simply because America is not ready for a female president, or because there are too many sexists who don’t want to see women be successful.

Clinton, on the other hand, believes the kind of woman America would find suitable just hasn’t been put up yet.

“I think in some ways we’ve moved to the right as a reaction to all the turmoil. And I think if Hillary had been nominated in 2008, she would’ve walked in, just like Obama did,” he mused during an interview with CBS’ Tracy Smith. “Well, I think all these cultural battles that we’re fighting make it harder in some ways for a woman to run.”

“So, you think it has more to do with party than gender?” Smith asked.

“No. Although I think it would probably be easier for a conservative Republican woman to win,” he admitted.

He also said that he believes America will see a female president “pretty soon,” which seems like good news for the Republican Party.
