NFL declines to suspend star player for wearing MAGA hat, but he may still face punishment

San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa will not be suspended for wearing a MAGA hat during a post-game interview.

Bosa will nonetheless be penalized — probably financially.

The possible fine stems from Bosa violating the NFL rulebook.

“The [NFL] will not grant permission for any club or player to wear, display, or otherwise convey messages, through helmet decals, arm bands, jersey patches, mouthpieces, or other items affixed to game uniforms or equipment, which relate to political activities or causes, other non-football events, causes or campaigns, or charitable causes or campaigns,” the rule reads.

So what exactly did Bosa do? After the 49ers crushed the Dallas Cowboys last Sunday, Bosa crashed an interview between NBC reporter Melissa Stark and 49ers players Brock Purdy, George Kittle, and Isaac Guerendo.

He crashed the interview while wearing a gold-on-white “Make America Great Again” hat.

Watch:

As seen above, he briefly appeared on camera, pointed to his MAGA hat, and then fled the scene.

Although brief, his stunt subsequently triggered rage and apoplexy from the deranged left. Many of them even sought to compare him to disgraced former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

Kaepernick was the guy who started the whole kneeling for the national anthem trend that nearly destroyed football back in the late 2010s. Bosa himself previously disparaged Kaepernick as a “clown.”

Responding to news that Bosa will likely be fined for his stunt, critics cried foul and pointed to the NFL’s allowance of so much other bull, including Kaepernick’s infamous kneeling shtick.

Just for the record, Kaepernick was also at one point fined, but for inappropriate language, not for kneeling for the anthem.

“The NFL has decided to fine Colin Kaepernick $11,025 for his alleged use of inappropriate language on Sunday,” Niners Nation reported way back in 2014. “Kap threw a pick in the fourth quarter, with Kyle Fuller grabbing the interception.”

“At the end of the play, Kap and Bears defensive end Lamarr Houston got in each other’s faces. Kap said something, and the ref threw the flag for unsportsmanlike conduct. Kap has said he will appeal the fine,” the report continued.
