Biden-Harris admin diverted billions of dollars from scientific research funding to DEI activists

The Biden-Harris administration has reportedly diverted billions of dollars from legitimate scientific research into “woke” DEI garbage.

An investigation conducted by Senate Commerce Committee ranking member Ted Cruz found that the National Science Foundation (NSF) “has increasingly politicized the use of taxpayer dollars meant for scientific research” by diverting said money to pseudo-scientific bull.

“[M]ore than one-quarter of all NSF spending now flows to support left-wing ideological crusades masked as ‘academic research,'” a Senate Commerce Committee press release reads.

The chicanery reportedly started during week one of the Biden-Harris administration, with the administration mandating that all taxpayer-funded scientific research and development (R&D) projects incorporate the tenets of so-called diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).

“[I]n response to this directive, NSF allocated over $2.05 billion to thousands of research projects that promoted neo-Marxist perspectives or DEI tenets,” the press release notes. “Taxpayer dollars supported projects of questionable scientific merit, often led by researchers who used federal R&D dollars to drive divisive, extremist ideologies in their classrooms and on their campuses.”

For example, last year the NSF awarded nearly $100,000 to Georgia Tech assistant professor Kelly Cross so she could “disrupt[] racialized privilege in the STEM classroom” by acknowledging that “whiteness and white supremacy” are “deeply ingrained in the past, present and future of U.S. higher education,” according to a report from Cruz.

But it gets worse.

Last year the NSF also gave Florida International University assistant professor Stephen Secules a whopping $323,684 to “transform engineering classrooms towards racial equity.”

Racial equity is, as previously reported, a divisive, backward philosophy that centers on using present-day discrimination against whites, Asians, and men to remedy the sins of past discrimination.

Just how radical is this Secules guy? So much so that in his grant application, he bashed other engineering professors for “not engaging as active change agents for racial equity.”

Moreover, in 2019 Secules reportedly said that “[a] white person earning a degree … isn’t inherently a positive contribution to society.”

But it gets even worse!

Last year Northwestern University associate professor Shirin Vossoughi received over $1 million for a project titled, “Reimagining Educator Learning Pathways Through Storywork for Racial Equity in STEM.”

So how crazy is this woman? In an op-ed published four years ago, this same associate professor argued that every American institution is “permeated” by the supposed “ideology of white supremacy.”

Returning to the present, conservative legal group America First Legal responded to Cruz’s stunning findings by filing a lawsuit against the NSF this week.

“America First Legal (AFL) has launched an investigation into the misuse of billions of dollars in federal research funds by the Biden-Harris Administration to promote dangerous, divisive, and unlawful diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, and filed a lawsuit against the National Science Foundation (NSF) for illegally concealing the employment records of the agency officials approving these grants,” according to a press release.

“Federally funded scientific research plays a critical role in our national security and economic well-being,” America First Legal Senior Vice President Reed D. Rubinstein said in a statement. “Every dollar matters.”

“Thus, Sen. Cruz and his staff deserve the American people’s thanks for exposing the Biden-Harris Administration’s misuse of over $2 billion in taxpayer funds to advance the racist, neo-Marxist, and anti-American DEI ideology, and reward its cronies. Building on Sen. Cruz’s work, AFL’s oversight will identify the bad actors in the government and elsewhere, laying the foundation for accountability,” he added.
