MSNBC host Mika Brzezinski choked up Monday as she anguished over Republican nominee Donald Trump’s possible second term during her appearance on “The View.”
Brzezinski claimed that Trump is “normalizing” fascism by allegedly “terrorizing” immigrants, “inciting an insurrection” against the U.S. Capitol and reportedly respecting former German dictator Adolf Hitler.
“Nobody gets a pass trashing America, Puerto Rican Americans, nobody gets a pass degrading people, nobody gets a pass degrading legal migrants and terrorizing people, nobody gets a pass threatening his enemies with using the military against them,” Brzezinski said. “Nobody gets a pass on inciting an insurrection, nobody gets a pass on saying he fancies Hitler and wants to have generals like his. Nobody gets a pass on insulting veterans and saying those who died for our country are suckers and losers except for convicted felon Donald Trump.”
“And guys, here’s the warning. You guys have set it up, but let me take it a step further, please, if I may,” Brzezinski continued. “This is called normalization. This is the dissent into fascism if we so choose. Normalizing Jan. 6 as a Day of Love … normalizing enemy from within, I’ll say it again and again and again until I get tired of it, until it’s not so funny anymore, or you think he doesn’t mean it until you realize he does mean it and it’s too late. Saying these strict abortion bans are a beautiful thing. Are you kidding me? We’ve got to wake up.”
Brzezinski accused Trump of “terrorizing” Haitian migrants after the former president called for mass deportations of those who arrived in the U.S. illegally and after he repeated unproven claims that Haitians are eating pets and ducks in Springfield, Ohio. Residents of Springfield who have expressed disdain toward migrants flooding into their community have alleged that migrants are stealing pets and beheading ducks in local parks.
MSNBC further cited Trump’s longest-lasting chief of staff John Kelly’s allegations to The New York Times and The Atlantic that the former president “met the definition of a fascist” and admired figures like former Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler. The Trump campaign denied these allegations.
Brzezinski emotionally said women “will be the beacon” of the 2024 election, accusing Trump of being responsible for pregnant women being denied medical services due to abortion restrictions. Trump has vowed that he will not sign a national abortion ban into law in the event that it reaches his desk and has opposed strict restrictions on abortion, including those that went into effect in Florida and Arizona.
The former president said in August that he would vote against a November Florida ballot initiative that expands access to abortion, according to NBC News.
