Did I hear Joe Rogan say MAGA Republicans were reminiscent of “Rebels?” Was he comparing MAGA to the Southern States in Rebellion? Could have been! Let’s take a closer look.
On this past Friday’s telling three-hour interview with 45th President, Donald J. Trump, Rogan reiterated on numerous points. The reference to the 11 states in rebellion, 150 plus years ago is something new.
Civil War and Reconstruction has always been a passionate interest. For a better connection, please visit JeffBabbWillis.com Without question, then as today, we have a seriously divided nation. The divide is so defined that it can be accurately referred to as “a clash of perceptions.”
One Glaring Difference
As history reflects, the South hated protected tariffs. Trump loves tariffs. This is the most profound difference. Trump is an avowed protectionist. The other side is composed of globalists. Like the North in the 1850’s, Trump wants to build and protect American Industries. The Southern states could be classified as “free traders.”
MAGA- CSA commonalities stem from their federalism preference. They take a more literalistic view of the 10th Amendment than their counterparts. In their eyes, abortion, education, and even marijuana are questions that should be handled by the individual state. They conclude that the other side would be totally content with changing the nation’s name to the “United American States.”
To a MAGA member, Senator’s Hawley and Blackburn’s “HIRE Act” was a stroke of genius and long overdue. This point of view would have been welcomed in the Antebellum South.
What Scares the Left
Of greatest concern for big government Democrats and Neo con Republicans is MAGA’s desire to reduce, if not eliminate the administrative state. Since both hold Marxist inclinations, decentralization represents the potential for a loss of control. In Nicolas Wrenden’s mostly forgotten book, “The Unmaking of a Russian,” the Bolshevik revolution’s success was explained in three memorable words. “Centralization of power.”
Wrenden, a member of Russia’s growing bourgeoise at that time, exited his native land in the 1920’s, eventually settling in St. Louis. He wistfully described the Bolshevik movement as “small but focused.” Their 60,000 members strategically took control of Moscow and with it, 150 million Russians. Are we seeing the parallels? It is easy to see why lovers of a big central government see Trump’s agenda as a threat.
Trump’s desire to decentralize the federal bureaucracy is a glaring threat to their grip on power. Unlike the Heritage Foundation, which seeks to replace Democrats with Republicans in the federal bureaucracy, Trump wants to eliminate 75% of it. In this regard, his views reflect 2024 presidential candidate, Vivek Ramaswamy.
The Appeal is Real
Trump favors elimination of the Department of Education. This inclination is not new. I recall 1980’s Republicans such as Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush and Christian Broadcaster, Pat Robertson urging the abolition of the DEA.
Ramaswamy also voiced favor for the elimination of the FBI, reassigning its 15,000 dedicated field agents to the Federal Marshalls, ICE, DEA and other law enforcement agencies. The remaining 20,000 Washington based employees could then “find honest work in the private sector.”
Abolition of the federal income tax in favor of a consumption tax drew applause from former Arkansas Governor, Mike Huckabee during his 2008 Presidential run. A consumption tax, AKA “Fair Tax” would take advantage of black-market money not being collected. Ramaswamy later proposed the elimination of the IRS, and their agents reassigned to the Treasury Department.
Most appealing is the conclusion that “those who came into the country uninvited, would be forced to leave.” How many and how fast is unknown. It does stand to reason that all legitimate Americans will suffer from over extended entitlement rolls if the problem is not remedied!
Most appealing is the yearning to “take care of Americans first.” This scares the pants off Democrats and Neo cons alike.
Are we Flirting with Civil War?
Maybe! There is a growing anger with the seemingly indifferent attitude toward Americans displayed by the Biden Administration. Kamala Harris has brushed off any concerns, in favor of accusing Trump of being a Fascist. Rogan was quick to mention that Harris and her party think that censorship is “AOK!”
Notice how Trump continuously references the “gold beneath our feet.” This may be code for “if we do go separate ways, we will have a rich country and they will be a poor country IF we change currencies.”
Look at the map! These MAGA Rebels would control most, if not all the South, most, if not all the Midwest, the Far West, the Southwest and Alaska. If Federal Reserve notes were no longer legal tender, the long-anticipated wealth transfer would be complete.
