‘Consistently slipping’: Jewish support for Harris lowest of any Dem candidate since Reagan era, new poll shows

Daily Caller News Foundation

Vice President Kamala Harris is slated to have the worst performance with Jewish voters of any Democratic presidential candidate since the Reagan era, according to a Manhattan Institute poll published Friday.

Harris would win just 67% of the Jewish vote if the election were held today, down from the 68% support President Joe Biden received in 2020, and a far cry from the 80% support former President Bill Clinton garnered in 1992, the survey of 658 Jewish registered voters found. The 36% margin of victory with Jewish voters would be the lowest of any Democratic candidate since Michael Dukakis in 1988.

“Many [Jewish voters] are likely uncomfortable with the Democratic Party’s tolerance of voices that criticize Israel in extreme terms, such as labeling the country ‘genocidal,’” Jesse Arm, Chief of Staff at the Manhattan Institute, wrote in an analysis of the findings. “This is evidenced by the fact that Jews are almost universally supportive of Israel — a mere 5% of Jewish voters say they are not supporters of the Jewish state.”

The study also found that 41% of Jews were “extremely” concerned about rising antisemitism in the Democratic Party, compared to 38% in the GOP. The disparity was greater among politically independent Jews, with 46% “extremely” concerned about rising antisemitism in the Democratic Party, while just 30% were “extremely” concerned about the issue in the Republican Party.

Relative to former President Donald Trump, Harris’ weakest issues were “Security, Israel and antisemitism,” the study showed. Jewish voters were most strongly aligned with Democrats on abortion.

“The Democratic advantage among Jewish voters has been consistently slipping,” Arm wrote. “Although Jewish voters remain largely aligned with the Democratic Party, there are growing cracks in that support.”

The Harris campaign and Manhattan Institute did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s requests for comment.
