Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) has found himself on the opposite side of many members of his own party on important issues like support for Israel, and now he’s breaking ranks again.
Other than former President Donald J. Trump, no man on earth is more despised than Elon Musk. They loathe him and are cheering for the Tesla/SpaceX CEO to be thrown into prison if Kamala Harris ends up in the White House, but he has an “appeal” with voters, especially in the critical state of Pennsylvania.
Fetterman warned that Democrats need to take the “brilliant” billionaire seriously and that Musk is very popular with certain demographics in the battleground state that could decide which party controls the government, once again showing that he is far and away the m0st rational member of his party despite his previous cognitive struggles.
The Pennsylvania Democrat shared his take about Musk with Chris Stirewalt on the latest edition of “The Hill Sunday” on NewsNation, telling the host that it would be unwise for the party to fail to understand the allure of the charismatic and outspoken X owner who spoke at a rally when Trump returned to Butler, PA where he was nearly assassinated last week.

“Pennsylvania I’ve been maintaining it’s the ultimate purple state, all of it,” Fetterman told the host. “I’ve never said that Pennsylvania is not a blue state, people assumed after 2012 that Pennsylvania is an easy layup, you know, for Dems and I’m like, ‘no, that’s just not that’s just not true.’”
“Trump has now made it so competitive and I want people to understand how, how, how popular he is in Pennsylvania, and one thing, you know, honestly, that really does have me concerned more than the polls. The polls is what I expected, but you know, now he is using and Musk is willing to actually show up at these kinds of rallies,” he continued.
“And I witnessed that in Butler County a couple of days ago. You know, Musk is, most endorsements don’t count for much in this business, but Musk is incredibly popular and he has an appeal to a demographic that Democrats have been struggle with to care, and some people, they see him as, that’s Tony Stark,” Fetterman said, referring to the Marvel Comics character Iron Man’s alter ego.
“He’s the world’s richest man. And he’s undeniably a brilliant guy. So, I think that that is the situation for Democrats, we would have to acknowledge that,” the hoodie-clad galoot added. “And it seems now, I see that on the front page of The New York Times, now talking about it, so you know that that’s a significant development for me in Pennsylvania that it would I think would only make it more competitive here in my state.”
Asked who Harris should bring in to “offset” Musk’s star power, he cautioned that some Dems have been mocking Musk for his jumping up and down onstage with Trump at the Butler rally, emphasizing that the “free speech absolutist” and his appeal should not be underestimated.

“The Harris campaign has plenty of surrogates and important kinds of endorsements,” Fetterman said. “But I would just say that it’s like, you know, some Democrats just, you know, just mock Musk and that, you know, we can laugh at this, we can goof at it, he’s jumping up and down and those things…you know, we ignore that is problem. You know, we, I think we could do that [at] our peril.”
“This is the last real election if Trump loses,” Musk said in a recent post to X, underscoring how important it is to defeat Harris and the machine behind her.
