Former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson spoiled the day for CNN’s Jake Tapper when he wouldn’t play along with the media’s using gossip from Bob Woodward to fuel pre-election hysteria.
In his new book, the Washington Post’s Watergate reporter, who has been the establishment’s favorite scribe since he helped take down Nixon served up a claim by an anonymous “aide” who alleged that former President Donald J. Trump has called Vladimir Putin “maybe as many as seven” times since 2021 after he left office.
Tapper, a fervent Democrat activist masquerading as a journalist, tried to get the former British leader to go along with the fake Russigate II narrative but looked like he was ready to cry when Johnson ripped the rug right out from under him.
. @jaketapper is being ridiculed by world leaders.
He’s a gossip not a journalist.
A real journalist would ask himself “how in the world would Bob Woodward even know this?” before simply repeating anonymous sources.

BoJo, who was on to talk about his own new book was asked by the anti-Trump anchor for his reaction to Woodward’s wild claim.
Before we get to that I do want to ask you about some breaking news here in the U.S., there’s some reporting on Bob Woodward’s new book revealing some very, very candid behind-the-scenes conversations between world leaders in the book…,” first asking about President Joe Biden’s profane remarks about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Tapper then turned to Woodward’s claims about the Trump-Putin calls, which the journalist doesn’t even see fit to cite – and which may not even be real considering the dismal track record of the media.
“CNN is also reporting that in Woodward’s book, according to a Trump aide, there have been multiple phone calls between former President Trump and Vladimir Putin, maybe as many as seven since Trump left the White House in 2021, what’s your reaction to that?” Tapper asked.
“Well, I don’t know that’s true and I’m certainly not privy to the contents of those sorts of conversations,” Johnson responded. “What I can tell our viewers is that when I had dealings with President Trump over Russia, like when the Russians poisoned people in the UK it was actually the Trump administration that really, you know over, they exceeded expectations,” referring to the sanctions leveled against Russia by the former president.
Johnson went on to undercut the narrative about Trump not supporting Ukraine in the war against Russia to the visibly uncomfortable Tapper who wasn’t getting the answer that he wanted in terms of the new hoax narrative.
“So you know, people take their pick about this… I’d be interested to know what those conversations contained,” Johnson said. “If indeed they took place.”
Having just been made to look like a fool and a clown, Tapper briefly struggled to regroup, pretending that he actually possesses journalistic skepticism and isn’t just a regime propaganda parrot.
“As would I,” he said, before turning to Johnson’s book, allegedly the point of the interview.
“He’s a gossip not a journalist,” noted former Trump administration official Richard Grenell in a post to X. “A real journalist would ask himself “how in the world would Bob Woodward even know this?” before simply repeating anonymous sources. The public knows Jake is a Democrat activist.”
