‘Morning Joe’ panelist takes jab at Elon Musk’s leap on stage during Trump rally in Butler

Daily Caller News Foundation

“Morning Joe” panelist Jonathan Lemire mocked tech mogul Elon Musk’s celebratory leap at Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s rally as being “one of the less athletic” ones he has seen during a Monday segment.

Musk appeared on stage with Trump on Saturday during the second rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, following the first assassination attempt against the former president in mid-July. Lemire complained about Musk for his refusal to break with Trump, alleged spread of disinformation, and for doing “one of the less athletic leaps [he had] ever seen.”

“Another person who has decided not to break with Donald Trump at all is Elon Musk, and I will say that Elon Musk is perhaps the world’s leading spreader of disinformation, including outright lies, about hurricane relief, about illegal immigrants, we’ve seen him do that in the last couple of weeks. And then on Saturday, he steps onstage with Donald Trump with one of the less athletic leaps I’ve ever seen as he bounded his way onstage with Trump,” Lemire said.

Guest panelist Andrew Ross-Sorkin said Musk has “riled up” Trump’s base and that his businesses will benefit if Trump wins in November. He further noted that Musk is attempting to brand the Democrat side as the “threat to democracy.”

Musk said during the rally that Trump is the candidate who will “preserve the Constitution” and democracy as Democrats want to take away the freedom of speech, the Second Amendment, and the right to “effectively vote.” He declared the 2024 election to be “the most important of our lifetime” and urged the audience members to register to vote.

“President Trump must win to preserve the Constitution. He must win to preserve democracy in America. This is a must-win situation. So I have one ask for everyone in the audience, everyone who watches this video, everyone in the live stream, there’s one request. It’s very important. Register to vote,” Musk said.

During the most recent rally, the former president paid homage to 50-year-old Corey Comperatore, who died during the July 13 assassination attempt, and promised that his Make America Great Again movement is “stronger, prouder, more united” than before.

Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, fired eight rounds into the crowd from a rooftop located about 130 feet away during the assassination attempt, injuring the upper right portion of Trump’s ear while critically wounding two others. Secret Service agents killed the would-be assassin.

Musk publicly endorsed Trump in a July 13 “X” post after the assassination attempt and has been tapped to serve as the head of a Government Efficiency Commission if the former president is re-elected.
