Kamala KO’d over tone-deaf message about $157M for suffering citizens in Lebanon

With vast numbers of Americans in the storm-ravaged Southeast still suffering from the catastrophic effects of Hurricane Helene, Democratic nominee Kamala Harris posted what may have been the most tone-deaf message possible.

Vice President Harris had her eyes on the Middle East and the plight of the Lebanese people as she announced an additional $157 million in aid — the message coming after Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas declared FEMA doesn’t have enough money to finish out the hurricane season.

“The people of Lebanon are facing an increasingly dire humanitarian situation. I am concerned about the security and well-being of civilians suffering in Lebanon and will continue working to help meet the needs of all civilians there,” Harris posted on X. “To that end, the United States will provide nearly $157 million in additional assistance to the people of Lebanon for essential needs such as food, shelter, water, protection, and sanitation to help those who have been displaced by the recent conflict.”

“This additional support brings total U.S. assistance to Lebanon over the last year to over $385 million,” she boasted

Meanwhile, rescue efforts on North Carolina and Tennessee continue and so many people have been left with nothing as entire towns have disappeared from the map. Making matters worse, Florida finds itself in the crosshairs of another tropical storm that has the potential to turn into a major hurricane.

Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) responded to the post to say, “If we renamed Florida and North Carolina to Lebanon and Ukraine, maybe Kamala Harris would send disaster relief faster. She’s made it clear that being Americans puts us last in line.”

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) said, “The people of Lebanon have indeed suffered badly—at the hands of Iran. So why are we giving $157m to a semi-failed state overrun by Iranian-backed terrorists? Let the ayatollahs fix their own mess.”

Here’s a quick sampling of other responses to the story, as seen on X:
