Kamala suggests lack of sleep led to Walz pick

Vice President Kamala Harris revealed Monday that her decision to select Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate came after a sleepless night, prompting some to wonder if she’s already losing faith in her quirky veep candidate or possibly preparing for a Walz beatdown on Tuesday night’s debate with Sen. J.D. Vance

Lost in the mix is that Harris is implying it was her call to make after being installed by the Democrat machine to replace President Biden as the party’s nominee.

The vice president sat down with “All The Smoke” hosts Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson, telling the former NBA players she made a “gut” decision to select Walz after “a few hours’ sleep.”

“From the time that the president called me and told me he wasn’t running, I mean, it’s just like everything was in speedy, speedy motion, and I was not sleeping so well,” Harris said.

“And that one morning I just, I mean, I had, I don’t know, a few hours’ sleep — and I, you know, I like to sleep. I just got up,” she said. “I was like — so I just went out and got a pork roast and started marinating it.”

According to the woman running for president, cooking helps calm her mind.

“And my family were all going to be in town, so they were very happy about the whole situation, but I just got up and started — everybody’s asleep, I just got up and started cooking,” she added.

This is not the first time Harris described the Walz pick as a “gut decision.”

“Probably the biggest gut decision I’ve made most recently is to choose my running mate,” Harris said last week during her softball interview last week with MSNBC lapdog Stephanie Ruhle. “There were lots of good, incredible candidates, and ultimately that came down to a gut decision.”

Somewhat comically, one social media user responded to the story by asking, “Is Insomnia a brand of vodka or whiskey?”

Here’s a quick sampling of other responses, as seen on X:
