The issue of illegal immigration may be Democratic nominee Kamala Harris’ biggest weakness and former President Donald Trump continues to hammer the issue by calling attention to the negative impact of the Biden-Harris administration allowing 10-plus million foreign nationals to invade the country.

Two stories have dominated the headlines of late, one being concerns expressed by local residents in Springfield, Ohio, which has absorbed around 20,000 Haitian migrants, and the other being the criminal exploits of the notoriously violent Venezuelan prison gang Tren de Aragua in Aurora, Colorado. Interestingly, the mainstream media has furiously beaten back claims being made in both communities, as local authorities — see Democrats — insist the storyline is being blown out of proportion.

While campaigning in Georgia on Tuesday, Trump warned that the illegal immigrant gang from Venezuela will “take over the whole damn state” of Colorado if he does not become president.

“We have to tell this woman has allowed record numbers of people into our country. They’re from all over the world,” he said. “They’re now creating criminal havoc throughout the country. Aurora, Colorado, you saw that, where Venezuela gangs are taking over real estate, they become real estate developers. How nice?”

“They’re taking over real estate and they have weapons that even our military has said, who’s giving them these weapons? But Aurora is a mess,” Trump continued. “The governor’s a mess. You know, the governor is a Democrat and he’s a radical left Democrat. And he’s not too popular right now because they’re going to take over a lot more than Aurora. They’re going to go through Colorado, take over the whole damn state by the time they finish, unless I become president, they won’t last long.”

Aurora Mayor Mike Coffman told Fox News last month that several apartment buildings “have fallen” to the Tren de Aragua gang, which he said was now collecting rent from the residents —  interim Aurora Police chief Heather Morris would later refute those claims.

The media reports that the story is a “false rumor,” but CBS News reported that Aurora officials “confirmed” Venezuelan gang activity and there was a viral video capturing heavily armed gang members breaking into an apartment. There was also a shooting that day allegedly involving the gang that left one person dead.

Aurora City Councilwoman Danielle Jurinsky was quoted in the article commenting on the lack of response by police.

“People were saying that individuals were patrolling their properties with guns and walking through their buildings. They called the police repeatedly, but the response was lacking,” Jurinsky said.

After the story blew up, the Aurora Police Department arrested three suspects seen in the viral video, with one of the suspects admitting that he was a member of the Tren de Aragua gang.
